DC reacts to Obama victory | Audio slideshow

Hours after Barack Obama was declared the president-elect – the next US president – throngs of supporters filled the streets of downtown DC chanting mantras of support outside the White House, and celebrating any way they knew how.

The crowd gathered outside the White at one point sang “Na na na na, Na na na na, Hey hey, Goodbye,” in popular sporting arena tradition.

The collective behaviour seems to have been echoed across the country. Searching YouTube came up with these two clips:

The pictures of jubilation Al Jazeera had from Indonesia were also pretty interesting to see:
